Phil. 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His sake;
We who have accepted Jesus as our Saviour, and also as our Lord, need to take this verse to heart. We will suffer for Jesus' sake. We are here on the earth still. This earth has been given over to the devil by Adam when he decided to sin. The earth and all created belongs to God because He made it, and it is His. But He gave Adam dominion over the earth, and he was to rule over it and have dominion. When Adam disobeyed God and ate from the forbidden tree, he chose to obey the devil and disobey God, and there by gave the devil dominion over the earth. Jesus came and suffered on the cross and paid the penalty for our sins and redeemed us back to God, which means Jesus bought us back to God from the devil with His own Blood. Though we are in this world, we are not of this world. We are Jesus', and we have the Holy Spirit within us. We are free from the power of the devil, and God has given us authority over the devil and all his demons.
Even though we have authority over the devil, and have God as our Father, we learn from the book of Job that the devil is the accuser of the brethren. The devil came before God, and God asked the devil, Have you considered my servant Job? For there is none like him in all the earth, a man that feareth God and escheweth evil? God was making Job a witness to all of heaven. But the devil accused Job, saying Job would forsake God if He had lost his riches. So God allowed the devil to take Jobs riches knowing Job would prove faithful, and Job did prove faithful, and sinned not, but glorified God. The book of Revelations reveals the devil as the accuser of the brethren, so just as the devil accused Job, so he accuses us the followers of Jesus. So just as Jesus and the Apostles suffered, so we too will suffer for Jesus sake. No matter what comes our way, we will go on with Jesus, and spend Eternity with Him. And we have Him with us in a personal relationship all our days here, so we can go on. I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.
Father we pray we will be faithful and walk in your love all our days, even when we have to suffer for Jesus sake, and that you will help us to keep going and be a good witness to all. In Jesus name we pray.
