12/29/2012 Matt. 6:12 And Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Jesus is teaching us to pray in Matt. 6:9-13. Jesus taught us a very important truth here. Jesus said for us to pray that God forgive us of our sins, as we forgive others. It is obvious that God commands us to forgive. This verse also says that we are to forgiven the same way we forgive others. When we forgive another and hold there past sin against them, in the way we treat them, even though we say we forgive them, then we in a sense are asking God to Hold our past sins against us, and treat us the same way we treat the one we are to forgive. The Bible also tells us that we will be Judged with the same Judgement we judge others with. I sure do not want to be Judged as guilty, or treated with punishment for my past sin, so I choose to forgive and treat others as though they had never sinned. That is the way God treats us, just as though we had never sinned. God has put our sins as far from Him as the east is from the west, two opposite directions that never meet. God has thrown our sins into the sea of His forgetfulness, never to be remembered. What a wonderful Loving God we serve that He would forgive us so completely. We have the Blessing of the Holy Spirit that will enable us to forgive, and the Holy Spirit will enable us to forgive quickly. The quicker we forgive the quicker we are forgiven. Hold no bitterness against any person, but rather forgive them, pray for them and Love them with the Love of God through the Holy Spirit, quickly.
Father we pray that by the power of the Holy Spirit that we will quickly forgive, and forgive as though they had never sinned, and that your Love will flow through us by the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name we pray.
